Braids and pony

Sorry there was no new post yesterday. We just didn't have time as I babysat my tiny itsy little bitty niece before she went to school :D. This is a slight spin off of Priss' hair do as before with a slight difference. I'm trying to make it mess up free @@. SO instead of squishing the braids I left them as regular braids then I did the first step to knotting it and laid it on top of each other. Its hard to explain but I got pics :D. Most times I couldn't tell you where I got Madison's bows. Most I have had for awhile. This bow I got just for this outfit from Sara's Scraps.

squished braids and pony.

This was a quick hairstyle. I wasn't sure how it was gonna turn out since Priss has shorter hair. But it turned out really cute. I parted her hair like I was gonna do 2 half up ponies. I put rubber bands towards the back so that her hair was more towards the back. Then I braided each pony. To squish it up I held the 2 outside pieces in one hand and the middle in the other and pulled. When done your braid will be considerably shorter. You have to work with it if it's wet. I found that dry it slides nicely when I was just practicing but I can't fix her hair dry or it won't look finished well. After both sides are done then rubber banded it off and pull the rest of the hair in a pony and add the braids. Then I took a small piece and pinned it up so that the rubber band was covered and your done :) I looked at a blog this morning that reminded me of the squished braids. I don't remember which it was or if this was the hairstyle so I can't give credit. I will keep hunting for it though :)

upside down braid with curlies

I got the template for this from Girl hairdos and Ideas. First what I did was part her hair half up and and clipped it to keep it out of my way. Then I made her put her head in my lap and comb all the left down hair up. I started her braid at the nape of her neck and went up. I rubber banded it and then combed the rest back to be in the pony. I took some bobby pins and pinned some of her curls in places so it looked all fancy and pretty :) I also used the comb and combed some of the spaces over so it didn't look so sloppy on her right side. It was kind of hard to grab hair from that area the way she had her head positioned.

zigzag Wish bone braids

This was an easy do. I did a zig zag part and pulled it back and braided it on each side. Then I merged the braid. Starting from the left I put the left side and middle together for the first strand, then I put the left right peice and right left peice together then the right middle and right right strand together. So basically you merge the 2 closest peices to go from 6 strands to 3 strands. That sounds so confusing I hope you get it LOL. Mine wasn't quite centered but I can't redo Madison's hair or it will start frizzing once it dries :(. Ohh well. I just learn to be imperfect :)

Half french braid half up

So if you know how to french braid this will be easy for you. One day I will post a tutorial for you. I just gotta have another person home so that it can be filmed :). So for this braid instead of adding hair to both ends I only added hair to the right side. I braided back to her crown and then I rubber banded it off and put a bow in and scrunched up her curls :). Easy peasy :D It didn't take long so we did a "photo shoot" where we were being silly. She loves her pictures being taken. I hope that never changes :D

Down and curly

I love Madison's hair down and curly but by the end of the day if I leave it down with out the sides secured in some way it is a MESS! To solve that I have taken the hair on the sides and pulled it under and secured it.

On the side with all the hair I put some hair under the part being pulled back so more will be there on the side but secured so it is still out of her face.

Side part braids

This took me like 10 mins max start to finish. I started by pulling hair on the side and braiding it so that it looks like below. You could put some french braiding in and take it back farther but Madison's hair doesn't look as good french braided on the side because she has thinner hair.

Then I did the part like her picture day hairstyle, but this time I did a reg. braid instead of an inside out braid. I have done inside out braids so much that it's hard for me to do a reg. french braid now.

Then I connected the 2 braids with a rubber band. Madison's braids aren't connected because it's too short but I connected the hair after the braids :). I used brown rubber bands so it wouldn't show so bad.

Little twists and braids

Ok so there is no step by step on this one but there is not anything complicated either. Basically I picked out 2 spots on the side and one in front and did braids. Then I pulled all of her hair back in a ponytail. I chose to add some twists in it. So I picked out a few spots from her pony and twisted it till it did lil curly's. Then I bobby pinned several in to the same spot and added a second bobby pin to help hold it. When that was done I add some more in another. I made sure some of the twists and curly ends covered the bobby pins so they weren't seen. I then scruched up the loose hairs so the curls would rebound :). I think this would look a lot better with thicker and longer hair but it worked for a quick do this morning :)

Twisted Design

This is my interpretation of http://www.princesshairstyles.com/2008/07/lace-and-twist-to-side.html. Ok so the hardest part of this hairstyle was to figure out where to start first. So start with putting in the ponies so that the side hairs don't dry. I hate that part of this job but you know I have learned to let be what is LOL. So I made a side part first. And then I made each pony following the first on each side of the part. Do the side with the most hair first since the little hairs on the side will do fly away if they dry.

Then I did the first twist.
To do the twist you cross the sides to make an X with the hair then you twist it over. So the pony on the left stays on the left.

I double rubberband since I only have 2 hands. This way most of the design covers the part. Priss wanted a pony so I put all the hair in a pony in the center.

Notice the color of Rubberbands used. They are used to match the outfit below (pic taken in Jan).

This is the shirt after she dripped chocolate milk down it cause I didn't know she wasn't done with it and she used a spoon @@.
Not as cute but the best I could do with the short time frame I had and NOT redoing the hair!
